Dr. Holly Okonkwo Ph.D.

Dr. Holly Okonkwo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies and Critical Gender Studies program at UC San Diego. Dr. Okonkwo is a cultural and applied anthropologist working at the nexus of Science and Technology Studies, Black Diaspora Studies, and Gender Studies. Her work investigates how knowledge production and technical practices are culturally constructed and conditioned by the politics of race, gender, and class in the United States, Ghana and Nigeria.

Dr. Okonkwo's work as a researcher, professor and designer is motivated by my commitment to anti-colonial, feminist methodologies and theory. My goals are to develop strategies and interventions that confront inequality and democratize science and technology for all.
